It’s insane how these small brands like zara and topshop make a fortune by copying from great fashion houses..seriousely we are in dire need of intelectual propert laws to bev applied to the fasion industry.

Everyone wants the Balmain look, but clearly doesn’t have the AMEX limit to acquire the real stuff. I’m not a fan of totally knocking off a design, but looking fabulous at a fraction of the price IS the name of the game. Also, I would’ve preferred a darker tight and no polish, mais c’est juste moi.

ZARA shoes are low quality. I’ve bought several and they always always get worn out easily. And yeah, these ones look cheap. But yeah, I still like ZARA clothes.

How can you say Zara and Topshop are small brands? You need to start looking at their revenues and realize that nowadays they are the big players.
Of course that they don’t invent anything but baby the true reality is, because of them fashion is what it is nowadays. Not everyone has access to buy a Balmain skirt of jacket but a lot of people can go to their shops and buy a fab knock off – one time, two times, three times, twenty times a week!
This is the reality of the business. cos whether we like it or not fashion is a business.
And even the fashion elite buy in these “small” brands….

I agree with fran. If it were a real designer everybody would love it. But because it’s a copy people aren’t liking it. I love it! It does not look cheap at all to me. The tights aren’t right though.

if there was something unique about them they would have been more difficult to copy by the highstreeters. They would have been copied regardless, but I doubt they would have come up with an exact copy, like the shoes in question. Seriously, how hard it is to bedazzle a black sandal?
I hope mr zanotti puts a little more effort into making a gorgeous shoe for next season. I’m not surprised there are rumors that Balmain wants to swap him for Camilla Skovgaard (who makes some gorgeous shoes, btw)

I am well aware of the fact that Zara and etc.. are doing great from a financial standpoint eventhough their revenues still don’t compare to big fashion houses.When I said small I meant more like “insignificant in their creative contribution to fashion”. All they do is make cheap knockoffs that I consider insults to the art that fashion is. I understand that not all of us can afford these luxuries, but I’d rather go thrifting, and buy some great vintage pieces and express my crativity putting them together than wear knock offs anything AND I’d rather own 3 designer shoes than 20 pairs that are cheaply made. That’s just my opinion, and to each their own.

altho i’m way late on this comment chain, i wasn’t sure if anyone had also seen the Zigi rip-offs? they might also look cheap in reality, but are cheaper and could work for us Frugal Freddies.
