SNEEK PEEK: NINA RICCI FALL 09 SHOES

WHEN I WAS INVITED TO COME TAG ALONG WITH A FRIEND TO THE NINA RICCI SHOWROOM IN BETWEEN SHOWS DURING PARIS FASHION WEEK, I THOUGHT TO MYSELF WHAT OTHER OPPORTUNITY WOULD I HAVE TO SEE OLIVIER THEYSKENS’ FINAL COLLECTION. LET ME TELL YOU, IT WAS BEYOND BELIEF! THE CLOTHES WERE REMARKABLE AND THE SHOES…DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SHOES. THEY WERE SENSATIONAL AND TOO GOOD FOR WORDS. I WAS SAD TO HEAR THAT THEY WOULDN’T GO INTO PRODUCTION BUT C’MON REALLY, DO YOU THINK THEY’D ACTUALLY SELL IN VOLUME? PROBABLY NOT. IF I WAS A WOMAN, I’D DEFINITELY GO FOR THE LACE UP ANKLE BOOTS. I’D LOVE TO STOMP AROUND IN THOSE BABIES.
IT’S SAD TO SEE THIS CHAPTER END IN OLIVIER’S CAREER.

the shoes are amazing as art, but not as functional wearable shoes…

Gorgeous shoes…though they may not be wearable, and they will not go into production, someone will be wearing them in Paris come the next show season.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:37 pm
OMG. i die
not functional but who frigging cares right.
I could just stand in them and look great.

The tip of the toe on the final pair reminds me of an eagle’s beak. Aaaaah so so good.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:55 pm

April 2nd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
i just picture a horror tail character wearing them.

They look like sculptures, not at all like something “wearable”…. so weird.
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:13 pm
they may not be “wearable” but I’d sure as hell if someone offered me the second pair
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Could one even properly stand in these I wonder?

April 2nd, 2009 at 4:37 pm
The iridescent peacock green on the second pair is bewitching!!!

A model from Nina Ricci show told me that the shoes were actually quite comfy and wearable once you get used to them.

April 2nd, 2009 at 6:05 pm
WOW!!!! Those are beautiful! I would kill for a pair.
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:06 pm
OMG! How unreal! That Nina Ricci collection was just stunning! I wouldn’t expect the shoes to sell in bulk, though
And I agree that those lace-up boots are gorgeous!
xx
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:08 pm
They’re probably right for not putting them in production, only rich women who would put them on display would buy them… So sad about Olivier leaving Nina Ricci, I really hope he gets his own line real soon!
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Oliver is one of the most talented, but shipped around the brands, designers. He’s so good. THe industry should just give him a line. Of his owwwwwn

They look amazing – I would marvel at the woman who could balance in those. Is it even physically possible?
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:53 pm
OH WOW!! – these are so cool, couldn’t walk in ‘em but love to look at ‘em!!!!!! ahhhh =]
xx
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:59 pm
If the models on the runway were able to walk in those then so should we. I’m sure they’ll have some sort of manual on how to do so, otherwise theirs always asking a transgender.
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:07 pm
wow.
they look amazing, i would totally put one in my room as sculpture =)
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:19 pm

April 2nd, 2009 at 10:04 pm
so fantastically beautiful! only in my wildest dreams!
April 2nd, 2009 at 11:01 pm
The shoes are definitely a piece of artwork for people to admire!
Wonder if any celebrity can get the chance to wear these incredibly shoes and show us her amazing balance skill…
April 2nd, 2009 at 11:54 pm
love the shape of each pics and especially the first!!!
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:14 am
its definately not wearable, maybe only the talented may. loves it.
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:58 am
They’re so amazing and I almost don’t have the words for them! But they really scare me. I’m raelly good at walking on very high heels, but I’ll definitely fall on these ones.
April 3rd, 2009 at 1:42 am
Oh my god, I love those last ones…they are terrific, jesus chirst, and don’t tell me those ones are not wearable…maybe the first two pairs are not, but it’s art, for god’s shake!

Those first two shoes are like art, and I’m so sad that OLIVIER is no longer with Nina Ricci. I wish him the best of everything.

those are amazing! i don’t care if i couldn’t walk in them. they’d look hot while i sit (and probably stay seated) at a bar just showing them off!

i would love to try walking in them; looks dangerous.
April 3rd, 2009 at 2:49 pm
HUHH! That’s impossible!
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:21 pm
It’s just me or the heel in the first pair is shorter than the platform? :O
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I mean, c’mon, Beradi got tons of press and praise for those heel-less boots Posh wore and now that Olivier does it, he gets fired?! That’s bs! He’s such a prodigy and I just hope someone’s smart enough to back him in establishing his own line again.
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:04 pm
what the hell?!?!
and i mean that in the best way possible.
April 3rd, 2009 at 5:27 pm
these really do not pretty. just because it is weird it doesn’t mean they look good.

Oooooooooooh those boots need to be mine !
April 4th, 2009 at 4:59 am
I LOVE the middle pair! I wonder what they’d be like to walk in… the front is so weighted they’d probably be pretty comfortable!

the 1st and the 2nd ones are def. for runway. to me, it’s just way too extravagant if someone wears them in real life. but the 3rd one, I want it now!!

I’m quite surprised the lace-ups aren’t going into production to be honest with you. Surely the show piece platforms were meant strictly for the show, but the boots have season staying power forsure. They are definitely chic-er than the Burberry Prorsum worker boots they threw on the runway this season.

very odd collection but I can see the next trend will be of intricately designed heels.

When I first heard the news about Oliver’s departure, it just brought tears to my eyes as I am one of his biggest fans! I love what he did at Rochas and even more now at Nina Ricci…I think someone should just back him again for the long run so he can be in a stable home!
I love love love all these WICKED, CRAZY, KOOL shoes! I can def. see V.Beckham wearing them!

I wore the shoes before. They are amazing! It took some practice before I could walk a long distance in them.
