JAK & JIL HEARTS CAPITOL & JOSEPH ALTUZARRA//

DESIGNER JOSEPH ALTUZARRA (CENTER) WITH CAPITOL BUYER RUTH CALDWELL (LEFT) AND CAPITOL CLIENT CHANDRA JOHNSON (RIGHT) BOTH IN ALTUZARRA

I HAD THE ABSOLUTE PLEASURE OF BEING INVITED DOWN SOUTH TO CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA THIS PAST WEEK TO ATTEND A SPECIAL EVENT IN HONOR OF DESIGNER JOSEPH ALTUZARRA HOSTED BY LUXURY RETAILER, CAPITOL. THE EVENT DREW IN A SELECT GROUP OF ALTUZARRA DIE HARD FANS WEARING NOTHING BUT THE DESIGNER’S BODY CONSCIOUS DRESSES. THE MUCH BUZZED ABOUT DESIGNER CAN EASILY ATTRIBUTE HIS IMMEDIATE SUCCESS TO HIS CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF A WOMAN’S BODY AND HIS BODY CONTOURING DESIGNS THAT HAVE GENERATED A LOYAL FOLLOWING THAT INCLUDES THE LIKES OF VANESSA TRAINA, ANNA JAGODZINSKA AND OF COURSE CARINE ROITFELD.

HAVING NOT BEEN TO NORTH CAROLINA BEFORE, I CAN EASILY SAY THAT THE SOUTHERN BELLES OF CHARLOTTE HAVE FLAWLESS TASTE AND IT CAN ONLY BE ATTRIBUTED TO CAPITOL’S LAURA VINROOT POOLE AND HER INCREDIBLE TEAM OF SAAVY FASHION INSIDERS. I WAS INITIALLY COMPLETELY TAKEN A BACK BY THE STORE’S GORGEOUS INTERIOR, DESIGNED BY HUSBAND PERRY POOLE, BUT IT’S LAURA AND HER TEAM’S IMPECCABLE EYE FOR FASHION THAT MAKES THE STORE SUCH A INTERNATIONAL MECCA FOR NOTHING BUT THE BEST FASHION. STOCKING EVERY DESIGNER FROM BALMAIN TO GIVENCHY TO NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD, CAPITOL IN MY EYES HAS ONE OF THE BEST SELECTIONS ON THIS SIDE OF THE ATLANTIC. THEY SIMPLY GET IT!

Please consider writing in non-caps. When it’s short messages, no problem. But if you’re going to write more than a few words, don’t. The punctuation gets lost and it’s hard to read.

It’s not hard to read the caps lock writing.

Finally something worth while! Just kidding. Yes Capitol is quite a find. The wall garden in the middle is amazing. Plus the collection of gorgeous dresses upstairs is mind-blowing. I love how all the balenciaga stingray bags are just piled on top of each other. The staff is so welcoming (not like the pseudo-wealthy at maxfields). It is the true embodiement of southern hospitaliy and decadence.

  25. Carey Says:

What!! You were in North Carolina. That’s so cool, I live in Raleigh a couple of hours away. Great shots.

the interiors were designed by Barrie Benson. Laura’s husband Perry is an architect, not an interior designer.

  35. lau Says:

glad to see that you were able to see some of the southern style. however you say that “IT CAN ONLY BE ATTRIBUTED TO CAPITOL’S LAURA VINROOT POOLE”. shes really done a lot to raise awareness of fashion in nc but i would hardly say shes the only reason for the stylish southern bells. While the south may not always be following the same trends to the same extent as new york, there is a strong sense of individual style

  36. An Says:

    DYING for that white dress.
