80s VS 70s//

THE FASHION PENDULUM IS SHIFTING AGAIN…
THE HARD, AGGRESSIVE EIGHTIES INSPIRED LOOKS THAT HAVE DOMINATED SEASONS PAST ARE SLOWLY BEING OVERTHROWN BY A NOUVEAU FRENCH SEVENTIES ROMANCE RETURNING IN FASHION.

J’adore et je suis entièrement d’accord. Il faut un retour à la douceur. Le style commencait à devenir un peu trop grunge. Les longues jupes adoucissent tout de suite une silhouette.

So excited to see soft chiffons in long lengths again. I love the color.

I love both this looks, but I must say I am most exited by the 70′s influence. Love Anja Rubik in this dress. It is gorgeous.
November 30th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I love the first ladies outfit the best and the second is alright – is that Anja Rubik I see?

i’ve been feeling this shift myself. I’m shunning my leather accessories for soft, feminine delicateness. I’ve been obsessing over 70 maxi dresses for weeks…
November 30th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
But both are so stunning! xo
November 30th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
WOW that ground-skimming dress is so incredibly gorgeous– I’m totally feeling the shift towards neutrality, softness, and femininity, but I’ve always been wary of blatant 70s references; this picture pretty much sums up EXACTLY what I’m feeling right now. BEAUTY!!!

I love the normal people in the background of the first photo.
Bring on the evolution!
November 30th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Isn’t that a Chloé dress? I love it!
November 30th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
I’m happy about this because I’m not really into the 80′s looks most of the time, at least not full-on 80′s. That long dress looks so ethereal!

November 30th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
I’m personally a much bigger fan of the 70′s. I especially adore that gorgeous dress!
November 30th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Anja Rubik wins this one.

I love both looks! The 80′s look is much more updated and less cheesy looking.
November 30th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
I’m *so* happy to see the look shifting to something more feminine. I’m utterly tired of studs and leather and all things tough. I’ve secretly been prepping for this change
November 30th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
I love both eras but i think im more of a 70′s girl.

November 30th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
i personally think the 70′s look is a lot more original, i mean be honest, how many people in the last year have you seen trying to dress like thier from the eighties???
November 30th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
It just became to trendy but I am still an 80s babie.

November 30th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
good! i never really got into the black/studs/80′s look. except for one amazing vintage puffy sleeve jacket.
November 30th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
I will always hold a flame for 80′s chains, but the Chloe is just stunning and so fresh!
November 30th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
I love the second picture. The woman looks so elegant and graceful.

That last outfit is so beautiful. It is above and beyond just clothes– it’s art.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
I couldn’t be more excited for this shift. I have always had the utmost adoration for 70s style. It fits my personality and body type much better than those harsh lines of the 80s do.

though i love the first picture i’m definetly going for the new 70s… anja looks stunning!
December 1st, 2009 at 4:50 am
The non-fashion people in the background are awsome ( can we call them muggles like in harry potter?)
But still I wont be throwing away all my studded stuff just because of ONE anja rubick outfit… Seriously long dresses are even harder to pull off than leather leggings!!! I DONT WANT TO BECOME A MUGGLE
December 1st, 2009 at 5:21 am
I think people (including general public who don’t take a direct interest in fashion!) are starting to realise that the hard edged eighties look is becoming really tedious and boring to look at. Love the dress in the photos!
Bring on the pastel palette, sheers and vibrant prints of Spring/Summer 2010!

I have to say that the people embedded in one style or the other will hardly be shifting. Can you picture our dear leader Kate Lanphear in flowy chiffon. I would die if I saw that. What’s happening is that the small stylistic trends are shifting but styles in general are not going away. And Thank god!!

When the 80′s revival strong-shoulders came back I was pretty into them..and still am! i love the power-blazers it brought! but 70′s is definitely a great look…minus the hippesque bohemian part. I love the idea of the 70′s romance look (like you said).

love the looks, different but all modern. Love the strict cut of the first and the soft fabrics of the second
December 1st, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Love the fur trim and chain detail on the jacket! Also, the way she paired the tuxedo jacket with a maxi dress on the second look is great.
December 2nd, 2009 at 2:43 am
Bring back romance. Love that dress.
December 2nd, 2009 at 4:25 am
love her boots in the first photo!
December 2nd, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I love both the 80s and the 70s. I think if I’d do the 80s outfit during the day and 70s at night.
Very sexy flowing dress too! Both looks are soo right now.
December 4th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
The first photo tells everything.
December 4th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
That black and brown dress is very freakin’ cool.
December 5th, 2009 at 4:50 am
The maxi dress is perfect, so subtle and classy. I love the dirty, muddy colours for this time of year.

I am so glad to see this shift happening…this dress is so beautiful and feminine, but our model still manages to add a few masculine touches to balance things out….these kind of juxtapositions are my fav!
December 7th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I’m glad to welcome the 70′s back with open arms, no matter how much the 80′s will always play a part of my life.
xx
December 7th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
I love how the tourists in the background of the first picture are so totally clueless. Anyway, thank goodness and good riddance to the 80s trend. The gown is so much more romantic.
December 8th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
